Hofner 4550 E2 (Nov 27, 1961)
It is a large, 17" guitar built in Germany on November 17, 1961. It has the date printed under the top.
Built with a laminated curly maple and mahogany top, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, and maple bridge. 64.5 cm scale length. Finished in tobacco sunburst.
The varnish is original and maintains its integrity, and much of its shine.
It has two Hofner Diamond pickups installed, Hofner's most sought-after model for its high-quality sound. It also has an original Hofner vibrato bridge.
The control board is original and has the factory settings, working perfectly. It has a volume control for each pickup, and slide switches that connect them, plus a solo/rhythm option.
It has some dents and scratches, but no cracks or major repairs.
The nickel silver frets are the original ones, refurbished, and allow for comfortable playing with a very low string height and no fret buzz or hum. The first string has a 2mm rise at the 12th fret. The plastic cover of one tuning peg has been replaced, as it was lost at some point. It is strung with 0.11/38 gauge steel strings.
It has been fully serviced, is in very good condition and fully operational!
