Melody Guitar (Catania) 1950s
The top is made of spruce, and the reinforcements are ladder-braced.The instrument is made of solid wood. The back is laminated with maple between two pieces of mahogany.
Rosewood fingerboard with bronze frets, which are in good condition, and have been reconditioned.
The neck is built in three pieces. The nut is made of bone. It has a 0 fret and a 62.5 cm scale.
The headstock is very old, but it works perfectly. It has a rosewood and bone bridge, with a bridge and tailpiece, similar to a mandolin.
The guitar is firm and solid, well adjusted, without fret buzz or buzzing and very comfortable to play, with less than 2 mm on the 12th fret for the 1st string. The varnish on the soundboard has some wear and dullness, but it's still a great instrument with a very good sound and beautiful timbre, which is also why it's offered at such a low price. The varnish on the back below has lost its shine in a 2-cm area, as can be seen in the photos.
The guitar is fully restored, with no cracks or major repairs. It is strung with silk and steel in the Italian style.
