Framus (JMS) 12 strings (1975)
This JMS model corresponds to model 5/296. It was built in East Germany by Framus in the early 1970s.
It has a solid mahogany top, solid mahogany sides, and a laminated maple and mahogany back. Ebony fingerboard. 62.5 cm scale.
They are very high quality instruments, intended for export, and bear the initials "EX" on the label.
The fretboard and frets have been refinished. It's very comfortable to play (less than 1.5 mm at the 12th fret).
It has some defects in the varnish, which can be seen in the photos, but it's in very good condition and works perfectly. It has an old crack on one side, which was professionally repaired and is barely noticeable.
It has been fully inspected and adjusted for perfect performance. It tunes and octaves well. Very good sound, no buzzing or buzzing.
"In 1946 Fred Wilfer founded FRAMUS... the name is an acronym for FRA nconian MUS ical instruments and was designed to draw attention to the fact that the celebrated violin makers from Schönbach had made Franconia their new home.
In the early 1970s, he created the JMS brand, manufactured in East Germany, recreating the same Framus models. These instruments were of high quality and primarily intended for export.
