Archtop Klira (1959)

This guitar was built in Germany in the late 1950s. It has a laminated maple and mahogany top, sides, and back.

64cm scale. Large size 42.5cm at the hips, very close to 17".

Despite its age, the neck is perfectly straight, and the frets are tall, round, and unmarked. It doesn't have an adjustable truss rod, but the maple neck is perfect and very flat and comfortable. The fretboard is pearwood with bronze frets.

The fingerboard has been reconditioned and serviced, and the frets polished. The overhaul is complete, leaving the guitar in perfect working order: low strings and perfect tuning.

Although it has some dings and scratches, it is solid and in very good playing condition. These guitars are instruments with great sound and are very comfortable to play.

It has been fully restored and adjusted, the string height is very comfortable and the intonation is perfect. Strung with 0.11 bronze.

"Klira (Otto Johs. Klier GmbH) was a German string instrument manufacturer, from 1887 to 1982. Starting with the classical violin family of instruments, the production range was expanded to include acoustic and electric guitars around the 1950s.

The company was soon reestablished in the Franconian region of Bavaria, West Germany, in the city of Erlangen. This coincides in time and place with the founding of the Framus company by Fred Wilfer, also from Schönbach.
